At OTOF, we implement our mission through several strategic initiatives

School Tree Planting Programs

We partner with educational institutions to establish tree-planting clubs. These clubs lead in tree planting activities and educate peers, families, and communities about the importance of environmental stewardship, using creative arts as powerful communication tools.

Community Tree Planting/Environmental Groups (Self-Help Groups)

We collaborate with existing groups and establish new ones, including women's and other interest groups. Together, we foster community mindset changes and transform communities into advocates of tree planting and environmental protection. Through training, modeling, and mentoring, we aim to create sustainable agroforestry practices and generate new wealth for rural communities.

Partnerships to Promote and Plant Trees

We work closely with local, regional, national, and international organizations to plant a variety of trees—grafted fruit & nut trees, indigenous trees, medicinal trees, shade trees, and timber trees—across Uganda's communities.

Model Seedling Nurseries

In strategic locations nationwide, we establish seedling nurseries producing over one million seedlings annually. These nurseries are operated by community groups involved in our tree-planting partnerships, ensuring sustainability and local ownership.

Resource Centers for Inputs & Consultation

We set up shops in tree-planted areas to provide high-quality inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, seeds, and tools. These centers also offer consulting services on community tree planting and management.

Tree Planting/Environment Educational Materials

We develop printed materials, videos, and performing arts presentations to inspire and educate rural households, farmers, students, and others about tree planting and environmental care. We distribute these materials widely to enhance awareness and knowledge.

National Agricultural Shows

Each year, at the National Agricultural Show in Jinja, we engage with 150,000-200,000 school children through educational videos, demonstrations, and artistic presentations. This platform allows us to educate the younger generation about the importance of trees and environmental stewardship

Model Woodlots and Forested Areas throughout the Nation

We secure large tracts of land to establish model woodlots and forested areas. These initiatives serve as national examples of sustainable land management and contribute to mitigating climate change impacts.

At OTOF, we are committed to making a lasting impact through strategic tree planting and environmental initiatives across Uganda.
